A SuperStandard at 3737 E. Washington Street in Indianapolis opened in 1980. Marsh bought the store two years later. Eventually, the company rebranded it as LoBill Foods. The east half the building became Savin*$ Mercado in 2002, but Marsh closed both sides four years later. Today, the structure houses Save-A-Lot and the Marion County Election Board Service Center.

Abandoned Marsh: Lebanon
Lebanon’s Northfield Plaza was built in 1961. Marsh Supermarkets operated a grocery store there under the Marsh, LoBill Foods, Marsh Hometown Market, and MainStreet Market brands before it closed in 2014. Today, the building’s home to Traderbakers Flea Market.Â

The Marsh on Hoyt Avenue in Muncie was built in 1977 as a Ross Supermarket. Marsh purchased the chain in 2000 and operated it as LoBill, MainStreet Market, and Marsh until 2017. Today, the building is home to a self-storage facility.

Northbrook Shopping Center opened in 1969 at the southwest corner of West 86th Street and Ditch Road in Indianapolis. The Marsh Supermarket was closed in 2017. It’s home to American International Market today.

The Marsh Supermarket on 116th Street in Carmel opened in 1997 as one of the company’s most ornate stores. It closed in 2017 when the chain declared bankruptcy. The Carmel Clay Public Library used the vacant building for two years.

O’Malia’s Food Markets was founded in Indianapolis in 1966. In 1985, the company opened new store opened at the Chapel Hill Shopping Center on West 10th Street in Indianapolis. Marsh swallowed up the chain sixteen years later.

The Marsh Supermarket at the corner of East 82nd Street and Allisonville Road in Indianapolis was built in 1998 and closed in 2017 when the company declared bankruptcy. Today, the building is home to an ALDI grocery and Havertys Furniture.

This supermarket in Fort Wayne, Indiana was my twenty-fourth entry into my series, Abandoned Marsh. It opened as one of the company’s first “Lifestyle” stores in 2004. It closed two years later as the company was being purchased by Sun Capital Partners. Today, the building is vacant despite several attempts to repurpose it.
