AT&T built thousands of microwave relay towers as part of its Long Line communications network. Although they haven’t been used as part of it in nearly forty years, many towers remain standing across Indiana. One, particularly stacked with antenna, stands just north of Michigantown.

The tower was built in 19601. Standing 226 feet2, it relayed a signal from a tower twenty miles southeast near Sheridan to another twenty-two miles northwest near Burrows3. Today, the structure retains four fan-shaped KS-15676 horn antennae and two SHX10A antenna at its peak.

After the Long Lines program ended, most of the old towers were sold by a successor to AT&T. Today, the structure is owned by American Towers, LLC4. I’m not sure if it serves in any modern capacity.
