This has been a slow month for new graffiti. The first day of May brought every car I expected to receive but two, so I checked out the yard that afternoon. That initial haul added eight new tags to my increasing collection of photos; enough to welcome you back to another edition of railcar spotting.

The rail yard at work was bleak, blank, and barren from my vantage point through most of the new year. After a mild start, things turned miserable during January’s third week! I knew I’d have to plod around in freezing windchills to find decent graffiti inside the yard, so I ran out just as the subzero forecasts came in. My trip didn’t reveal a lot, but what I found was diverse.

Traffic in and out of our rail yard at work is finally slowing down as we approach our year-end shutdown. I figured our decreasing shipments would lead to a dormant month of railcar spotting, but December has proven to be the most colorful on record. I’m glad it was enough to supply the last monthly edition of railcar spotting for 2023!

Thanksgiving is a favorite holiday of mine, but I’ve celebrated it differently since I was a kid. These days, elaborate feasts with extended family have given way to more intimate gatherings.
